It is targeted both at academics and public policy analysists.

Neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage, inequalities, and cognitive ageing
Presenter: Anja Leist (University of Luxembourg)

Abstract

The CRISP project on cognitive ageing funded by the European Research Council (grant agreement no. 803239) investigates inequalities in life course opportunities for cognitive development, with focus on gender, education and socioeconomic background. I will present findings from our studies on how neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage and deprivation are linked with cognitive ageing and risk of dementia. We investigate the mediating role of individual-level characteristics and the role of genetic risk for developing dementia in these studies. Synergizing complementing evidence from different parts of the world, the CRISP findings show how unequal life courses translate into large variability in older-age cognitive health.
