LISER awarded two CORE research proposals

Projects were chosen based on their innovative and high scientific quality.

3 November 2017 –  The Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) awarded LISER researchers two CORE research proposals. Submitted earlier this year, the research proposals aim to strengthen the scientific quality of Luxembourg’s public research.

The proposals awarded are

“Preference for Redistribution, Equality and Fairness in Europe and in the Greater Region: Micro-Evidence from Surveys (PREFER-ME)”

This project will shed light on the fundamental effects of inequalities on preferences for redistribution and hence on the social support for the welfare states across Europe. Our results will be useful to understand the sustainability of different aspects of redistribution, and connect to current pressing societal questions regarding the inequality of the distribution of market income and wealth, and what individuals prefer to do about it.

"The Effect of Schengen, the Euro and Local Labour Markets: A Causal Analysis on Cross-Border Workers in Europe - CrossEUwork”

CrossEUwork aims to provide a better understanding of the effectiveness of European and national policies potentially affecting labour market integration in the border regions of Europe. Outgoing cross-border employment, hence transnational social and economic cohesion, will be the focus of the analysis. By implementing state-of-the-art evaluations on rich data sources, CrossEUwork will address a specific Luxembourgish need that is overlooked in the international scientific research.
