LISER takes part in a feminist and cultural festival at Abbaye Neimënster

To mark the end of International Women's Day festivities, researchers participated in a round-table discussion and animated the interactive ‘GG- Gender Game’.

LISER was invited to participate in the “Fête féministe et culturelle” on 11 March, organised by the International Women’s Day platform (Plateforme JIF)

A follow-up to the public actions held on 8 March, Sunday’s event, which included workshops, concerts, games and discussions, brought together families and visitors to participate in numerous activities that highlighted the issue of inequality between women and men in society.

LISER’s ‘Gender Game,’ a board game based on gender stereotypes designed by scientists from LISER took centre stage in the Abbaye’s atrium. The game is designed for publics of all ages and it can be played simultaneously by children, parents and grand-parents.  Players respond to questions on gender roles selected by researchers based on their own work. The answers are provided in a public-friendly manner to ensure maximum impact and to make children, young people and adults reflect on gender differences in the society by having them exchange their own experiences.

Following the game, a round-table discussion on the precariousness of women in Luxembourg was organised. LISER was one of the participants of the round table.  Examples of questions addressed were: What are the differences in risk factors of the poverty between women and men in Luxembourg ? What is the reality facing women in precarious situations? What support structures exist and need to be put in place to alleviate and overcome the risk of poverty?
