LISER supports the Orange Week

Show your solidarity through a wish!

The Ministry of Equal Opportunities and the Luxembourg section of Zonta International jointly organised the "Orange Week" as part of the UNiTE project of UN Women. This campaign was launched in 2008 by the United Nations Secretary-General to raise public awareness about violence against women and to end gender-based violence. In this context, UN Women invited all governments, NGOs, individuals, the media and the private sector to unite around this theme.

LISER wanted to be in solidarity with this action by proposing a wish tree in the hall of the Maison des Sciences Humaines (near the entrance). Write a wish and show your solidarity with the Orange Week campaign!   Small orange papers are at your disposal near the tree.

Luxembourg has an efficient legislative and social system and in close partnership with NGOs. The Council of Europe's Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence is in the process of being ratified. Work in parliament has begun. This international treaty is the first international text that aims to protect women against all forms of violence. This is the first binding international legal act that recognizes that violence against women is a violation of the principle of equality between women and men, discrimination based on sex and a violation of human and human rights.
