In partnership with the Ministry of the Economy, LISER is conducting an ongoing project to understand how global megatrends—climate transition, demographic ageing, digital change, new work patterns, and geopolitical shocks—are transforming labour and skills needs in Luxembourg. The study examines future shortages, replacement needs, and the competencies required for emerging and evolving professions. One cohort of workers has already been interviewed twice, with further rounds to follow. Using administrative data, surveys, and Big Data on job vacancies in the Greater Region, the project provides strategic insights to help policymakers and employers anticipate talent challenges, strengthen competitiveness, and ensure Luxembourg remains attractive to skilled workers.
Scientific evidence from LISER underpins Luxembourg’s first National Action Plan against racism and discrimination.
