Abstract

Incentives matter! In many fields such as work motivation, environment conservation or education attendance, incentive mechanisms are used to modify individual behaviour. However given budgetary constraints more and more non-monetary incentives are proposed and/or used as a policy tool. The session will present and discuss general aspects of non-monetary incentives. The non-monetary incentives can be framed or not, resulting on social information or be the kind of the now well-known nudges. The aim is to provide useful knowledge of the existence of the behavioural mechanism behind non-monetary intervention and experimental evidence of their effectiveness. *** Mathieu Lefebvre is associate professor at the University of Strasbourg and Head of the Laboratory in Experimental Economics of Strasbourg. His research is in the areas of public economics, labour economics and experimental economics. His research interests include the determinants of pro-social behavior, the labor supply and the regulatory environment and broadly speaking the individual decision under risk and uncertainty.
