Marie Valentova is a research fellow at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER, formerly CEPS/INSTEAD). She holds PhD in Sociology from Masaryk University  and  Advanced Master in European Social Policy Analysis (MESPA) from Tilburg University (NL) and Bath University (UK).  She is a visiting fellow at the Catholic University of Leuven. She is  an active member the Network of International Review of Leave Policies and Related Research. She also acted as a country member of the Expert’s Forum of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) and an independent expert in Peer Review in Social Protection and Social Inclusion and Assessment in Social Inclusion. She led and contributed to funded research and policy-oriented project (both at EU and national level) that dealt with female career interruptions, parental leave policy evaluation, integration of immigrants and perception of  immigrations. 

Her current research interests include: social policy analysis and evaluation, reconciliation of family and paid work, gender issues, immigrants and social cohesion. Her research papers were published in leading international peer-reviewed journals such as: Journal of European Social Policy, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Work Employment and Society, International Review of Sociology, Journal of International Migration and Integration, Social Indicators Research, Survey Research Methods, Journal of Social Policy etc.
