Research summary

Christophe Sohn is urban and political geographer and senior researcher in the department Urban Development and Mobility. His research agenda focuses on the ways national borders may represent an economic, political or symbolic resource for border cities and regions. He is particularly interested in the concept of cross-border metropolitan regions as the emblematic configuration of globalizing urban border regions. His most recent work focuses on the symbolic recoding of borders in cross-border regionalization initiatives in Europe and in North America. Since 2018, Christophe is co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Borderlands Studies.
