LISER takes part in Luxembourg’s 2017 Science Festival

Interactive game ‘Play the GG’ a favourite among children and teachers

LISER proudly participated at the 11th edition of the Science Festival in Luxembourg that took place 9-12 November. It was organised by the National Museum of Natural History (Mnhn) and the National Research Fund (FNR).

The purpose of the event was to present and promote science and research in Luxembourg and to encourage young people and the public to become interested in and curious about science and technology.

LISER’s ‘Play the GG’ game proved a big hit among children, young people and adults. In fact, different publics can play the game simultaneously because the topics and questions are adapted to different ages. The reasoning behind is to make children, young people and adults reflect on gender differences in society by having them exchange their own experiences. The goal of the game is to raise awareness of gender inequalities in society. Two teachers have since asked if in the future LISER’s game could be played in their schools, evidencing its appeal.

During the first two days, Thursday and Friday, primary and secondary school classes visited LISER’s ‘Play the GG’ and the other numerous workshops and shows, which were presented by research institutes, associations and companies. On Saturday and Sunday, the Science Festival was open to the public.

Special thanks to Carole BH, Eva, Blandine, Maike, Esther and Benoit and everyone that contributed to this event!
