Dagmar Bycankova will explain the European semester process mainly from the perspective of the Commission Representation in Luxembourg. After touching upon the rationale behind launching the European semester in 2010, the fiscal, macroeconomic and structural policies components of that process will be presented. The various phases of the annual cycle, and the related documents, will be described. The presentation will focus on the implications of the European semester for Luxembourg. Next to the country's Europe 2020 targets, its current economic condition, and the challenges faced, the evolution of the Semester process on the ground will be presented, including the involvement of various stakeholders: the Government, the Parliament, social partners, and professional associations.
