Workshop on “Assessing health system performance on access, efficiency, and quality: a focus on primary care in Luxembourg and other European countries.”

Results of the APPEAL (Assessment of Primary care PErformAnce in Luxembourg) project

Health system performance assessment aims to evaluate and improve the ability of health systems to meet their key objectives, including access, efficiency and quality of care. Primary care is an integral part of the health system, with the potential to improve performance. The APPEAL project investigated the individual and health system factors associated with access, efficiency and quality of care, with a particular focus on primary care, using data from Luxembourg and other European countries. This workshop will present the main results of the APPEAL project and facilitate a discussion on the implications of the research for the Luxembourg health system.

APPEAL was a joint project undertaken by the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). The project adopted an inter-disciplinary approach comprising a team of economists, epidemiologists, health service researchers, sociologists and statisticians, supported by national and international stakeholders and scientific advisors. This research was supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) (C19/BM/13723812).
