We develop a model of migration across countries specifying the geography of the network migrants travel within. In our model, agents move across countries to improve their economic conditions and escape conflict. They overcome migration barriers due to geography, as well as border controls. We estimate our model using high frequency data on migration flows across African countries and between African and European countries, and migration intentions in Africa. We use the model to evaluate counterfactual scenarios about migration restrictions and conflict shocks.
