LISER had the pleasure to host the prestigious event which gathered over 80 participants

On September 11-12, LISER, in partnership with Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (BIBB), Institute for Employment Research of the German Federal Employment Agency (IAB), Utrecht University and Instituut Gak— hosted the 7th TASKS VII Conference: The Economic Impacts of AI on Work and Labor Markets — and what an inspiring gathering it was!

The TASKS VII conference brought together economists, sociologists, and policymakers to discuss the economic impacts of frontier technologies, focusing on productivity, institutions, and micro-level and macro-level adjustments. Together they discussed the advances in artificial intelligence (AI), green technologies, and other frontier technologies are reshaping economies, workplaces, and environmental outcomes globally.

LISER is deeply grateful to our keynote speakers for their thought-provoking insights and new perspectives on the Future of work. They are:

  • Prof. David H. Autor - on if automation replaces or augments expertise.
  • Prof. Thijs Bol - on using topic modelling to study skill profiles in job postings.
  • Assistant Prof. Lindsey Raymond - on measuring the effect of Generative AI on worker productivity.

Program Highlights included:

  • Rich paper presentations across sessions on skills, education & training, and labor institutions.
  • Engaging debates on how AI and other frontier technologies are transforming jobs, wages, and productivity.
  • A vibrant exchange of ideas between economists, sociologists and researchers committed to understanding and shaping labor market transitions.

A big thanks to the scientific and organising committees for curating such a strong programme. All partners, presenters, discussants, and participants — their contributions and energy made TASKS VII such a success

The conversations and collaborations sparked in Luxembourg will continue well beyond this event. Together, we are working to ensure that technological change leads to equitable, sustainable, and inclusive outcomes.
