On 29 April, LISER joined ambassadors and heads of mission to present research addressing global challenges and informing foreign policy in today’s shifting geopolitical landscape.
Beyond formal collective bargaining processes, social dialogue primarily relies on the joint efforts of management and the staff delegation within the organisation.
The Diplomatic Conference, held annually in Luxembourg, brings together ambassadors and heads of mission to discuss the country’s foreign policy priorities in a rapidly evolving global context. The 2026 edition, held at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, provided a platform for dialogue with government representatives and actors from the economic and research communities.
In a context marked by geopolitical transformations and tensions affecting citizens’ well-being, these exchanges took on particular importance. Invited to contribute to a session dedicated to inter-university cooperation and research, LISER presented a selection of projects with significant international relevance and societal impact.
This was an opportunity for Aline Muller, LISER’s CEO, to emphasise the institute’s role in promoting a more sustainable and inclusive economy and society.
Participants explored the Policy Lab’s work in supporting evidence-based policymaking in Luxembourg, Europe and partner countries, as well as the CliC:ME dashboard, which illustrates how climate change can influence income inequality, poverty and human mobility worldwide.
The event also served to highlight LISER’s central role in the global IZA@LISER network, which connects more than 10 Nobel Prize laureates and 2,200 researchers worldwide — strengthening the connections between research, diplomacy and policymaking.
