LISER is developing an innovative, ongoing system to monitor vivre-ensemble in Luxembourg. Using a randomised survey experiment, the project examines newcomers’ motivations, perceptions, social networks, and the barriers they face when engaging in programmes that foster intercultural living. One cohort of recent arrivals has already been surveyed twice, and analyses of their responses are now in progress. A new wave follows individuals who arrived in 2023 and agreed to be recontacted. This rigorous longitudinal approach will equip the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees with evidence to refine future initiatives and strengthen social cohesion across the country.
Scientific evidence from LISER underpins Luxembourg’s first National Action Plan against racism and discrimination.
