An international interest for the Microsimulation

The fifth World Congress of the International Microsimulation Association (IMA) welcomed around 150 participants from all over the world.

The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-economic Research (LISER) and its Modelling and Simulation Unit hosted the fifth World Congress of the International Microsimulation Association (IMA). After previous World Conferences organised in Vienna (2007), Ottawa (2009), Stockholm (2011) and Canberra (2013), the next IMA general meeting hold in Esch-sur-Alzette, on 2-4 September 2015.

The purpose of this Congress was to share knowledge and experience in relation to the development and use of microsimulation models. It was of interest to creators and users of microsimulation models in international organisations, governments, academia and the private sector.

The congress welcomed around 150 participants from all over the world.

Well-known keynote speakers attended to the congress:

  • Theo Arentze, who is full professor of Real Estate and Urban Systems and chair of the Real Estate Management and Development group at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
  • Olivier Bargain, who is Professor of Economics at Aix-Marseille University.
  • Elsa Fornero, who is Full Professor of Economics at the University of Turin, Scientific Coordinator of CeRP - Center for Research on Pensions and Welfare Policies; Vice-President of Share-Eric (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, Research fellow of Netspar and Policy fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor, Bonn.
  • Luc Savard, who has a PhD from the Paris School of Economics (EHESS) in Paris, a masters in economics from Laval University in Quebec City and a Bachelor degree in Environmental Health from Ryerson University.

The next IMA event, the European Meeting, will take place next year in Budapest, Hungary.
