More older workers in companies

The share of workers aged 50 and over has more than doubled over the past 27 years (11% in 1994 compared to 26.7% in 2021). This phenomenon affects all companies, whatever their size.

Best employment sectors for the over-fifties

In 2021, the sectors of real estate, of manufacturing, of construction and of transportation were the sectors employing the largest number of older workers in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Employment of older workers well below the European average

In Luxembourg, in 2018, 40.5% of the people aged between 55 and 64 were still working. In this respect, the Grand Duchy is lagging behind the great majority of other EU countries.
